1. Semipalmated Plover Charadrius semipalmatus, basic plumage, Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge, Delaware, USA, September 16, 2006. Note the white-fringed wing coverts and tertials. These may be retained juvenile feathers, but adults in fresh basic plumage also have whitish fringes to the wing coverts. The dull bare part coloration suggests this may be a first-basic bird.
